Known to many as the trouble-making Resse on the Fox hit series “Malcolm in the Middle” but Justin was known to TV audiences well before that appearing as a regular in three TV series before landing Malcolm in the Middle.
Justin played Bob Bowman for 13 episodes in 1994on the series The Good Life and was Jason Booker in 1994 and 1996 on The Mommies and moved on from 1995 to 1999 as Ross Maloy on Unhappily Ever After. Justin was a TV veteran by the time he hit MITM as the troublesome Resse being continually active on a TV series from 1994 to 2006 when MITM wrapped production.
Along with those series roles in the same time frame, he made guest appearances on the series The Boys Are Back and Hardball in 1994, provided some voice work on Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man (1996). He also appeared in The “Nightmare Room” (2001), provides more voice work on two episodes of “Kim Possible” in 2002 and later 2004, and again was the voice acting on “The Fairly OddParents” in 2004.
He also took the time to appear in two feature films, playing Flip in 1998’s “Wanted” and played ‘The caption Writer’ in “Max Keeble’s Big Move” (2001). Justin also stared in the direct to video films “Mom, Can I Keep Her?” (1998), “The Kid with X-ray Eyes” (1999), “Invisible Mom II” (1999), and “Who’s Your Daddy?” (2002).
After MITM wrapped in 2006 and 20 years old at that time, Berfield had no TV or movie credits until a 2010 guest appearance on “Sons of Tucson” in 2010 and that was it as of this date.
During his child and teen star years, he was known as a skilled martial artist in the style of Tang Soo Do, for which he holds a 3rd-degree red belt. He has won many State Karate tournaments as a youngster.
