A fantastic show that was hugely popular during the first run and has developed a cult following since then.

Unfortunately,  the quality of the picture is awful I am wondering if that is how the transfer is or I just have lousy copies.

Aired a lifetime before I was born from this topic I have found this and has been watching and it is a very cool old show, the quality of the prints is bad though could be one I am watching.

The prints did not hold up well I agree because the ones I am watching also show the age, this is unlike Route 66, The Fugitive, and many others I watch so maybe it is the print we are seeing.

I agree I was watching it not long ago on one of those retro over air Antenna TV type stations and the quality of many episodes was so washed out.

That being said I love it, love even the washed-out look it added to the age, I love anything retro, old is better than new.

I guess it depends on the source you are watching I have watched the episodes in glorious black and white with no washouts.

You are correct I have since watched some episodes in very good condition, great classic series.

That must be the case maybe these are just poor copies.

Saturday Night at the Movies.

I stand corrected I have since seen some episodes that definitely showed washed-out B&W so there are some bad episodes.

It is an old series and they used actual film not the video tape of later TV series so it is vulnerable to deterioration, I guess nobody back then thought of enhancing and restoring the copies.
