Justin Henry
Quote from Luvthe70s N80s on November 15, 2024, 10:55 amWith some time on my hands today, I am correcting some injustices such as Justin Henry not been so far mentioned on this site. We are talking about a 7-year-old with no previous acting experience landing a role in "Kramer vs Kramer" one of the biggest films of 1979 and becoming the youngest actor nominated for an Oscar with his best supporting nomination for the 1980 awards.
Justin was born on May 25. 1971 so he was just 8 years old when nominated, he was outstanding as Billy touching all the right emotions needed for that role, other films I liked that he went on to appear in were "Sixteen Candles" as Mike Baker and "Martins Bay" where he played Martin and the TV movie "Tiger Town" he also was in several TV shows of the day such as "Fantasy Island" and others.

However at that age and acted for the first time and then the youngest person was nominated for an impressive Oscar, which makes the movie worth watching, if I can find it.

Quote from Baumgartner on November 19, 2024, 2:42 pmA child actor that in my time I never heard much about, in the heyday of Teen Stars Online he was too old then to be a listed star and there was not much talk about the film.
I think Kramer vs Kramer for sure is a film that most teens or even young adults might have been lining up to see and years later looking in video stores for a movie I would always skip over it. It always happens you get to the video store and nothing good is left so you start taking movies and I grab this and what a surprise it was a brilliant Drama and brilliantly acted, the kid was an eye opened and all the years in mentioning good performances by young actors I failed to mention him.
The youngest ever to date nominated for an Oscar is nothing to sneeze at and his performance in a first role says it all, kind of reminiscent of Brad Renfro in "The Client" also in his first acting role with no training.
I have not seen this in years and seeing this topic I am going to watch this film once more, might be dated but you can't fate great performances and this late 70s Drama has it all.

Quote from Jeff on November 30, 2024, 9:39 pmHe was very good in the movie as the nomination proves but he goes too far back to have been discussed on Teen Stars Online back in the day.
It is strange he was never mentioned by a single soul in all the times we talked about good performances by a child actor, even on the topic on this forum he was not mentioned.
I think all of those were he went so far back before most on the site could have related to but he certainly deserves to be mentioned for that role, I think it also is because he did not go on to have a long history as a child actor that I can recall
Hats off to young Justin for his role his performance and his nomination.
